Fellow Oregonian Jon the “McBuckkiller” happened to be in LA at the same time I was in OC last week, so bro and I took him on his maiden lobster hooping expedition. It’s always fun taking excited newbies. Conditions were ridiculous for January with short sleeve temps and glassy water. Started with a bang when the very first net had three or four keepers. First ten-net pull produced nine legals. Slowed down after that and we picked away for the next few hours for a total of 18. Wanted Jon to see a 5 pounder or bigger but just solid keepers this night. Great time with a good friend.

Well done. Sometimes that first pull can be the bulk of the night. Way to pick away! I can't go for another week because I am going on a late season New Mexico elk hunt. Oh well -
Not sure you’ll get much sympathy for not being able to catch lobster because you’ll be busy hunting elk lol. First world troubles for sure!
