How about your decoy setup, in the field, behind you, in front of you, in between hunters, I got no clue? Any help would be appreciated!

don't over think it, its not duck hunting..... just put them in front and blast away

I'll 4th it, but add this... I find my dove decoys work better when their outline can be distinguished the best. I haven't had too much luck with them camouflaged in a tree or bush. Put them on a barbed wire fence with no backdrop and they stand out and really work wonders. I like dead trees too. If you do put them in trees find a branch that sticks out. For me, if the deeks are buried in a tree with lots of foliage, they don't do a whole heck of a lot.

Sound advice.........Get yourself an old Christmas tree stand and a good horizontal limbed tree (manzanita works good)......Cut it flat on the bottom and put it out in the open area of a field (corners are best...... ;)......See pic.

As far as motion decoys for dove go yes they work and I do use one but they don't seem to pull the dove in the way a mojo spinning wing decoy can suck the ducks in or the way a foxpro motion decoy can pull a predator in. Not sure where I would rate them on a scale of 1-10. Maybe a 6.

Steve, I like that setup. Anyone else on here make their own dove tree and have pics to share? I'm thinking of making one although the natural one seems easier and better. I've scoured Google and seen some real elaborate ones out of Texas, made out of PVC with room for a Mojo or two on it. Looking for ideas...

Jason,

Another real easy set-up is taking to 2 metal fencing posts and string a strand of wire between them (the more you use the more it looks like a fence row)......Clip decoys to connecting wire.....Feather-Flex dove decoys are best because they basically weigh nothing.....Sorry can't find any pix of mine.

I did used the blow up ones.......I would just stick them in a dead tree always worked good.....we also put a few on the roof of a white pick up truck and they were landing on the truck. Later I got a mojo and would put it in the ground and put the blow ups around it that worked great

Sweet.. might try that. Hopefully my clip ons will sit well on the wire. I usually stick em on the hay bales or nearby trees but I need a DIY setup like that if I hunt the open fields.

Last weekend I tried the plastic clip on decoys and was really surprised how good they worked for us. I put them on the edge of the canal road and and sat below about 50 feet away in the shade. before I put them out the dove were flying down past the thick bushes by my friends and not turning toward me at all. I put two up and you can watch them fly by the power lines over the thick bushes and then turn towards me and get within range. My friends noticed and moved over by me. I Want t get the ones with the moving wings, or make wings for my plastic clip on decoys.
