Dove decoy use?

Hey I had a question. I've always just had wind spinners and clip on dove feeders as dove decoys but I got a great deal on a battery spinner. (5bucks brand new in box) It worked really well last week on the euros. What are the rules for battery decoys during season? I've looked and have not found anything but some one said it was like battery decoys for ducks and I can't use them the first part of the season? Can I use battery spinner decoys the first weekend of dove season? If you know where in the regs I can find it I'll gladly look again. I looked on page 26 of the book regarding dove and upland game birds.

Unless the rules have changed there are not any rules against spinners for dove, just water fowl.

I use my duck spinners, dove are stupid. No rules on their use.

Thats what I always thought but some guy I was talking to in the valley said its always been a law that you can't use them in early season. I think he was confused.

The regs say no live decoys or e-callers for taking resident upland fowl. Spinners are legal and in fact are very common.
Go for it.

I never leave home without my dove spinners......Although, IMO, they don't seem to work as well as they once did.....Heck, I even used them for ducks in Canada......lol

Found it on a Walmart shelf unopened and un damaged with a discount sticker on it. It was the mojo voodoo. Now I'm hooked and have to spend much more on the next few. :'(

yea just like hunting. I actually took a trip up the coast for work this week and stopped at every walmart i found. Got one in a slightly messed up box for $15 bucks. Im happy.

Just one more question. Ive been hunting the IV the last few years on opener. Ive got a few spots and made friends with a few guys that have helped me out. when needed. (thanks Guys)
ive put in 100's of miles crossing the whole valley. Ive had mixed results as is all hunting.
Ive got about a doz ground/clip deeks 3 wind spinners and now 2 electric spinners. Im sitting on a bunch of PVC should i make a tree? would it help? does it help to have the spinners up high or down low? I know being on the X is the way to go and i do believe in decoys to get the birds just a little closer. but does any one have a set up that works better? none of my spots have power lines near the shooting area since they are all on the roads and not over the fields so i cant toss a string over a line.

tree or no tree?

Should i keep it small or go big?

Should the spinners be high or low?

I just made a dove tree a few weeks ago but haven't tested it in the field yet. I'll share some pics in a few. I basically copied the Mojo tree, for about a tenth of the price. The spinner sits up high and has branches that extend out where I put my sitters.

I made a dove tree a long time ago......Doesn't seem to work as good as the spinners do, but it's still something that I use in big fields along with a spinner.

Pretty simple to make......4 pieces of 1" PVC piping with connectors, 24" long.....One 3 way connector....Two 1/4" towels, about 3' long.....One 3' length of rebar.....One piece of 1/2 towel inside the 3 way connector drilled to 1/4"....It then all fits into an old fishing rod tub.....You can also use an old Christmas tree holder (works for trees too) or surf rod holder......Another important factor is to use Feather-Flex foam decoys......They're very light in weight.
