Little late on the post but I got the first trip to the islands under my belt. I was lucky enough to have a buddy invite me on a blackfin to chase some halibut and sea bass.
After a few hours of fishing, I caught my first ever halibut @35#s. Shortly after I caught my second @~20#s. We also caught limits of giant Santa Rosa reds.
It was an amazing experience that I’m truly grateful for.

Nice halibut. I'll take that yellow eye over the halibut. Yellow I are so good to eat. Enjoy nice trip
Nice to know I'm not alone all my family and friends think in crazy because I'm not crazy over the taste of halibut. Dont get me wrong i pretty much like the taste of all fish and will eat halibut but I would definitely eat them red's first and foremost.
