Me and three buds were in Brawly for the dove opener. We decided to avoid the Niland area altogether after trying it last year and ending up with pellets to the face and ribs. No guarantees anywhere but we wanted to avoid crowds. Day one morning we hunted a farm field not far from town and did well. All had limits plus a few euros and rock dove. We didn’t have the place to ourselves but the crowd was light.
We all agreed it was the coolest weather any of us could remember on opening weekend. That was a nice change. Great food at Inferno and margaritas at Chabelas. The pool and jacuzzi also got a workout.
We stayed for day two but the morning shoot was very slow for us. I think the birds got the message after day one and stayed home. Still, we each got a few more for the grill before heading home.
All tallied we shot about ten white wings among the limits. A couple of those odd white colored euros too.
A highlight was meeting up with Jason @SurfNHuntSD while he blasted some ECDs at one of his spots. Another classy SCH member representing well. I hope everyone who shot during the last two days had a safe, fun experience.
