J.A.K.E.S Day at the Range 2017

Hi all,

I am again the chairman for this years annual J.A.K.E.S. event. Scheduled for June 24th, 2017 at the Escondido Fish & Game shooting range (east end of Lake Wohlford).

As in years past, I'm asking for donations for this great event for the introduction of kids to the shooting of .22's, black powder guns, shotguns, tomahawk throw, BB guns, archery, and the history, hunting and biology of our San Diego wild turkeys.

Kids are free (6-15) and adults are $10.00. This includes all the shooting events, t-shirts, drinks, and lunch for all that attend. Kids also get certificates of completion & buffalo head nickels.

We again have 106 kid limit to the event. I will be taking names on June 1st. Last year, we were full by 3:00 pm on the first day. So, don't wait to call. I got my 1st call at 4:00 am on June 1st.....lol.....The gates and registration start at 8:00 am. The event starts at 9:00 am sharp. Historically, we're done by 1:00 pm.

Also, it takes about 40 helpers/instructors to accommodate this many participants. If you would like to help out, please let me know.

There's no camping on the grounds of Esc. Fish & Game, but just a couple miles away is the Lake Dixon camping & RV area.....It's possible Oakvale campground at Lake Wohlford could be available as well.

Just make sure you call early June 1st, if you plan on coming down.

Tomorrow is the 1st day for sign-ups.....The only way to sign-up is by calling me.....I will then have you e-mail me and I will send you back your release form......Copy it and bring to the event.

Don & guys,

The gates open at 7:00......We start taking kids in for registration at 8:00 am......Event starts at 9:00 am.

8:00 should be fine.....We have some folks coming early for set-up.....Hats & shirts for all the helpers at the registration tables.....Guns, ammo, & targets are set.

I have water & drinks for everyone(it's going to be pretty warm)......Lunch will be served as usual.

Another JAKE'S Day at the Range in the books.....Great turn-out, great weather, and it appeared the kids (102) had a great time as well.....Huge shout out to all the volunteers (including SCHer's...Don, Mark, Kyle, Mark, Tyler, & Gen) and sponsors.....Maren Miller, Robert Yakemonis, Gemini Mfg, AAA Oil, Bob Fusco, Safari Club Int, Alabama St. Athletic Club, and Escondido Fish & Game Assoc.
