I had the privilege of meeting Fred, though I didn't have a clue at the time who he really was. I was about ten years old. My dad, his friend Maynard Peck and Fred went on a black bear hunting trip together in Michigan. As for getting that close to a beast like that, not all ideas are good ones...….
