Wanted to share a story with you guys about the infamous Lightning Trout . IDK if any of you have had the pleasure of catching one but it’s definitely different and the ones they are raising now at Lake Amador are hard hard fighting fish they are calling them Amador Golds !!! About 2 years ago we were still in the drought and I heard Mt Lassen was gonna start planting Amador well I did some research on Mt Lassen and noticed they planted Corona Lake down in SoCal and they planted these huge fish that were called lightning trout and they were way over 10 lbs
anyway I mentioned it to the lodge owners and low and behold that same season they started planting them there . First couple of times I couldn’t bring myself to keep one then talking to a friend Calndn he says hey they are good eating so it was around March or April and towards the last of the season before it gets too hot and Chris had got quite a few nice hogs that year so he told me use rainbow garlic powerbait for them well I did and the very last day at Amador produced a nice 8 lb LT ! Thanks Chris couldn’t have got this without you so shout out bro

Yea they are different and they put some hogs in Corona Lake I mean they stock the heck outta that . Amador has their own hatchery and used to raise Donaldson trout its like dont quote me on this but something like 30% Steelhead 30% Cutthroat 40 % rainbow and when the drought hit the State more or less closed them down and it has taken 3 years just to kinda get it back to normal !!! Now they are raising their own LT and they have full tails and are drag pulling acrobats !!! They also raise cut bows that grow up to 10 lbs in 2 years . Good Stuff for sure . BF

Oh the good old days of them fish back then man tmyou had to watch your rod close and make sure it was secured good because they would take it. Just ask my cousin Bubba he never learned and chased this rods in the water about 5 times. And this wasn't even a big one just the average size. But my friend 9 year 10 year old son got a 9 9 lb that day.
