My dad and I Got the invite to hunt some private land on Maui. So we pulled the trigger and did a strike mission to go hunt some bucks.
Met my dad on Maui Thursday night. He flew from Kauai and I flew out from ca. I hunted a smaller property Friday and got lucky with a decent buck Friday morning.
Then we headed out to the big country where we got dropped off at a cabin that was up at 7000ft and had a 6 mile hike and a 6000 ft descend to reach the pick up point. We camped out in the cabin Friday night it was nice and cool with a lot of pigs and goats around but the axis bucks were what we were going for.

Saturday morning we started our descend down the mountain not seeing any deer for the first few hours. My friend that took us said don’t worry once we find one deer we will find all of them. He wasn’t lying, at about 9am we saw our first deer then we were surrounded by deer.
We found a good buck and made our move there were a lot of eye and ears so it was a tough stalk. The buck disappeared behind a hill and I made a hour and a half stalk and got within 80 yards. He was bedded under a tree. I set up and smoked him in his bed.

We got him dressed out and kept hunting. About a quarter mile away from where I killed the first buck we found another one bedded in a little gulch. My dad was up and he nailed it from 150 yards.
It was a great day but we still had a few miles to go down some strep rough terrain. Within the next mile we found another nice her and my friend from Maui was up next. We stalked in and waited and a nice buck fed up to us 75 yards and my buddy dropped him in his tracks.
Now we still had over 2 miles to go and our packs were loaded. It was a rough hike out but it was all worth it at the end. Such a great experience and memories made with my pops and my buddy. Really grateful for great friends.
