I had 2.5 days of the last 3 days of season to hunt. Day 1 I passed on jakes and saw solo hens heading to nests. Gobblers would respond to aggressive crow calls but the hen calls weren’t bringing them, it was pretty clear the hormone season was nearly over. Second day it was 80 degrees in the afternoon and ticks and mosquitoes were brutal. I got this guy in to about 50 yards and dropped him cold. Winchester XR Long Beard 3” number 5 shot with a primos tightwad choke. (Man I miss lead shot!) Good experience and I’ll try and catch them earlier next year!
