Yesterday Dunc and I attended a youth hunting clinic hosted by the San Diego Chapter of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association and it was awesome.
NAVDHA had clay shooting instruction and the kids got to actually go into fields to hunt planted chukar with a trained dog and handler. They then got to clean and cook their chukar.
The kids were all generously provided with everything they needed including orange vests plus eye and ear protection and there was a nice raffle for gear and even a shotgun donated by Right to Bear in Alpine.
NWTF was also there and they hosted an archery range and a table. SCI and CDFW also contributed to the event.
Everything was perfect and I can’t recommend it enough if you have kids and want to get them exposure to upland game hunting.
