I called and spoke to someone at carrizo plains regarding field dressing the game, and He advised Not to field dress, because of the "naked bird law"....so I should bring the game whole, otherwise i might get in trouble with law enforcement.
can anyone give me a light on this, please. Thanks

Oh boy..so..I'll start..if you don't field dress..what will you do with the mammal once you kill him on the carrizo plains?

I think the naked bird law is in place because if the naked bird is sitting in a tree above you while you are field dressing pig, the bird might come on ur head. That, or the noise from running the air compressor might scare the feathers off the bird., hence, naked bird. Really naked Bird law, give me a break, has to be a California thing.

Field dress ASAP in CA we live in a desert if you don’t get it field dressed the meat will spoil. Just make sure the tag is on the pig and you will be ok. If you are far from the truck and you shoot a 200lb+ pig pretty much the only way that thing is coming out is in pieces on your back.

This is all assuming you find a pig out there. I've never seen them in 20+ years. Elk, yes. Pronghorn, yes. But never pigs.

Pig season in california is year around, but on ecological reserves typically have special rules / hunting dates / etc. Carrizo HAS SPECIFIC HUNTING DATES. Please do not hunt out of season unless you want to gamble with a fine.
