San Jacinto WA Type A Permit Needed for Upland Side?

Just planning to do a quickie for some upland and small game but was wondering if Type A permit is still required.
Trying to get someone over there on the phone seems to be impossible. Any tips is appreciated.
 
San J is open 7 days a week for upland and all you need is an upland stamp...No extra charge...You do need to check in at the kiosk.
