Hunted the opener today for 8 birds. Lots of people and little public fields means complete and total chaos on the opener. We got there at 8 this morning (the season doesn't open until noon) with 50 people already in the field. By 12 there were 300+ people. The shooting was good just too few birds to go around. I shot more but other people kept claiming my birds and it just ain't worth fighting over. Other hunters however where for the most part courteous and respectful besides the one idiot shooting blackbirds and letting them lay. One thing that stood out to me was whenever there was a low flier the whole field would call it out and no one would shoot. However I wish it was more like the valley where the more you scout the better the hunting will be and the fewer people you will see if you get off the beaten path. But that just doesn't happen dove hunting here. That's what duck season is for I guess.

I think that deer season starts there any day now and goes through the end of the year with a limit of 1buck per day ($5/tag for doe tags). You may get more deer this year than most of us got doves today.

I'm definitely jealous of the Fall season back East!
