Okay guys I got a question, by this time next year I'm hoping to be out of California. I have a tons of decoys floating geese, full body geese, floating ducks, full body ducks, blind bags, blind chairs, decoy carts........ etc etc. Do I take them with me and pay for all that extra shipping cost OR do I sell them and buy new once I make it to Arkansas or Missouri.

What are you doing about furniture, electronics etc? I would probably make a trip with a u-haul rental unless you're starting over with everything.

If you think you can use everything, I'd take it with you. If you have the cash and want to start fresh, then dump it and start over. Either way I see some good hunting coming your way in the future!

I'm going to buy a 40-ft sea bend container put all of our furniture clothes beds etc in that then drag it on my flatbed trailer the cross country. I'm just looking at all of my hunting stuff I've already filled a 10x10 x8 ft storage bin with full bodies floaters decoy carts boats etc. I'm planning on making at least two trips. One with the flatbed trailer by myself and another with the fifth wheel and the family.

Personally, I would keep them, unless they're junk...New decoys are expensive and used decoys are hard to even give away at times.

Look into getting a moving pod to ship all the stuff you can’t fit into your container. They deliver any size you want To your house. You load it up and they deliver it to your new address. Easy peasy.

I have probably 60 decoys in my shed that I won’t use the rest of the season. If you want to swing by and borrow them let me know. Don’t want to give them away but you are welcome to take them out.

I’d keep half. The best of your collection. Sell the other half. Then have fun figuring out exactly what you need... and don’t need, when you get there and experience some hunting.

On FaceBook I frequent a couple of pages that the main topic is moving out of Commiefornia for a free state. A pretty good percentage of the people are selling almost everything and buying new when they get to where they're going. As much room as decoys take up I think that would be a smart move for those too. You could sell them and get probably half of what you originally paid for them so buying new wouldn't be that expensive. In fact, since decoys are kind of bulky the room you'd save in a moving truck, or in a Uhaul if you're going to do-it-yourself would probably save you at least the other half of what the new ones will cost. Besides that, if you buy new when you get there you can tailor your spread to whatever kind of birds the local hunters are using. Win-win all around and someone out here will appreciate being able to pick up some cheap decoys too.

Now my wife the kids and myself will be living in a 40-foot 5th wheel for the next six months to a year. We're going to pay off all of our crap with California wages my wife and I are making. Then in July we're taking a 4-week trip across the country to check out towns and States we want to live in. Other than Idaho any of you guys got any suggestions? My wife is in law enforcement as a dispatcher and I'm a Heating and Refrigeration technician. So finding work should be easy for us.

Go for it! The sooner the better brother. Nobody nicer than the people in the Midwest if you ask me. Two things I'd look for, but I'm old. A good hospital system in place and close to a decent airport. Some of the best towns are college towns, that has maybe a mid-size State University. Not a big State college. Keep us posted on what you find.

Oh and I'll miss shooting bootlips at the Turd with you. Good times and good laughs.

If I was lookin'....These are the places I'd start with

I love southern Utah....A solid red state (except for Romney)….Hunting and fishing is great....And folks up there seem to be very nice.

My cousin lives on the Missouri River off of Int. 15 between Helena and Great Falls...Beautiful country and property is still pretty reasonable in the Great Falls area...Obviously, great hunting and fishing.
