Went Duck Hunting And

A quail hunt broke out.......lol........Drove in to Dr. Jack's club and the 1st thing I noticed was the lack of ducks.....And I mean almost no ducks (3).....Mine you, this club hasn't even been hunted this year.....But what we did see were a bunch of gambel quail.....Jack has had leg surgery recently. So, no walking for him, but I got aft them.....It took awhile, but finally got #10.....Dang, they fly fast in my old age......lol


ps.......Unit 1 fields which is right next door to the club and are just now being flooded were absolutely jammed with mallards & pintail.....Maybe, that's where the ducks are.....Sandhill cranes on the refuge too.

What ever happened to hunting ducks on the river. And getting what ever is there. Seems duck hunting has gotten complicated or seems that way.

There was a handful.....Lot more "Flying Rib Eye"......lol

It appears to be rye.....I know the cranes are in rye.

Was using a 20 gauge for these quail.....Would've probably done better with a 12.....Gambel's run 1st, then flush far.
