Well this has been a vary tough past 5 days. The elk are not talking and it’s been tough Getting in on the cows. Been putting in a Sh$t ton of miles every day to get back to the canyons that are holding the cows. Gettin in on them is another story, steep canyon full of rocks and blown down timber is tough to stay quite.

We had a storm roll yesterday morning and it was cold and wet pretty much all day. I was hoping it would have change things up, it didn’t lol. Got another front moving in Tuesday night in to Wednesday so I’m hoping that changes things because the season ends Friday.

I’ll try to give updates for the rest of the season.

Nice! I just got back from Colorado and had the same thing. Except I had a cow tag and could only find bulls. We were finding 10+ bulls every day and only had a single shot at a cow and my brother sent it way over her back.

Maybe the moisture will quiet things down for you. Always a positive...

Yea it’s beautiful, I’m enjoy the time away from work and home.

Got up top today, found a few areas that we are gonna hit tomorrow with cow calls and bugles. Running and Gunnin, changing the pace, gonna be aggressive and get after it.

At this point I feel like we have nothing to loose.

There has got to be a cow gettin all slicked up some where around this mountain.

Stay tuned.

Cow's in general are the most difficult to hunt because they run in herds so you are dealing with many eye's and nose's as well the lead cow who know's best and has experience. If she feels pressure she is gone and everyone goes with her (bull's included). The best success I have experienced with that scenario is get on the lead cow and kill her and the rest don't know what to do and will stand around and get shot. ( I'm a rIfle hunter so it's a bit different for you) In the rut they are herded up with a bull and the bull rules the roost by keepimg them in place and chasing off others. It appears you are trying to solo kill a cow or low denomonation bull, that's a tough scenario the satellite bulls that hover around the herd generally won't stray far from what they know so you will have to get close to have a chance at any of them good luck..

Got a front moving in, windy as sh$t. The elk are still quite. Sitting a meadow surrounded by thick quakies.

Storm should move through by tomorrow night so Thursday and Friday should be my best days.

Stay tuned I’ll post pics later when the service is better
