SD Local Obedience and Starter Gun Dog

Looking for a recommendations to put my 16 week old lab into for physical obedience, and I started a gun dog program.

I’ve been looking at High on kennels and Raney ranch

Any recommendations other than these or have any input on anyone that’s use them?

Fred (high on kennels) has a trainer up there that does great work, her name is Ruth, I believe she has worked with @NBK dogs extensively.

I used her for bird intro and gun Goose’s initial gun intro. I recommend her, she is great and reasonable.

Following up on this;

My black lab has no pedigree history of hunt tests. Does this mean it’s not worth training for gun dog work? Or how valid is pedigree history?

IMO, pedigrees are for making more money off dog breeding...My labs have been papered, but I pay zero attention to their history...I look at puppies and pick the male that is most aggressive and wants to retrieve or play.

Again, IMO, hunting dogs are like any other athletic...The more they train, hunt, and you work with them...The better they get.

Here's Coley at 6 months...Bought in Montana from a back yard breeder...He retrieves anything you throw at him and as a little pup, all he wanted to do was get the ball...He has turned out to be a great retriever...2 cents
