Finally back after 5 full days of hard hunting, we were blessed to finally get dad a deer with 16 minutes left of time on the final day! Will post whole saga of the trip tomorrow

Scouted allllllll day today. Only saw 6 deer, no shooters. Temp was 76 degrees, but supposed to get a cool down Sun Mon. Keeping fingers crossed for the morning.

Yes, we went the semi guided 2 day route for better draw odds. Got here last night and are headed out to scout this morning.

My dad has never killed a deer, so we are headed to NM in the morning. Gonna scout Friday and hunt starts Sat. We are going guided for the first 2 days. Hoping to find a good buck for dad, I'll try to blog daily. Also gonna try to fish the San Juan if we get time. Good luck to everyone going...

Put in for all species, only got 1 draw and it was a unit 2B deer tag for myself and my dad who has never shot a deer, so I'm pretty excited. From what I've learned there are some pretty good deer there and our bar is not very high. Can't wait!

Made some elk jalapeno cheese sausage a few weeks back. I added in pork belly for fat and followed an online recipe, but ended up tasting like hamburger in casing. It was good, but needs improvement. I'm thinking a finer grind and high temp cheese (tip from PaulC). Any other suggestions? Want...
