    Unique FL yote down

Got her back today. Overall not a bad mount. I think the face is a little weasely, but my wife loves the way it looks so I guess that’s all that matters!

    Unique FL yote down

I saw that a couple months ago but couldn’t find the video again. If it was up to me that’s what I would have gone with! It looks so real!

    Unique FL yote down

Oh I dropped it off at a taxidermist already. Wife wanted a full mount more than me! I was fine with just a skin. $855 for a full body and she was writing the check before I could say “let’s talk about it.”lol

    Unique FL yote down

Never seen a melanistic (black) coyote in Cali, and I’ve called in a bunch over the years there. This makes the 3rd one I’ve seen while hunting down in Florida. I missed one back in 2018 and I figured I whiffed my only chance. Well today I was finally was able to connect! 530 grain subsonic...

    Still lurking from Florida

I hunted region H this year in Wyoming. My father and I were camped 4 miles in and at 9K ft. Most miserable hunt I’ve ever been on. Rained every day we were in the back country (6 days). My crispi boots I only used for one season in the “16” and cleaned as directed leaked like a sieve. Wet...

    Still lurking from Florida

Adding to the list. Bow season opened last weekend and I missed a doe at 40 on public opening day. I guessed 40 and shot right over her back. Ranged it after and it was 41.6 yds, so I just whiffed I guess?? Hunted Sunday, Tuesday, and again on Saturday. Saw deer everyday but no shots...

    Still lurking from Florida

Kind of like that but instead of air you put a bullet in it. It’s not considered a firearm, no trigger or firing mechanism. From left to right there’s the giant treble hook with 550 cord, bang stick with 45LC round where you load it and screw the “barrel” on, then on the right is the weighted...

    Still lurking from Florida

in Florida on public land you can’t bait (well you can but it has to be attached to your boat and no hook involved. ) and no guns allowed. I usually take a bow set up for bow fishing and a fishing pole with a big weighted treble hook. This year I snagged both gators with the pole. I could have...

    Still lurking from Florida

It all depends on what you want to do with the gator. Just meat? Skin for leather to make things? Skin for a wall mount? Just meat it’s easy, cut skin off and cut meat off. Where the work comes in is skinning to use for leather. The skin doesn’t come off like a deer or bear, there’s a lot...

    Still lurking from Florida

You know it’s never really crossed my mind? When I lived in South Carolina the gators were pretty bold and they’d come right up to you when fishing. I’ve never had one do that here. Most of them you see, especially the big ones, are trying to get away from you as fast as they can. The area...

    Still lurking from Florida

Still lurking on the site after moving from San Diego to Florida. Love keeping up with the 16ers. Deer season in FL opens next weekend here as well, so I’ve been keeping busy hunting gators. Tagged out today with my second one. They’re not huge ones, but in my experience if you stick with...

    Goodbye San Diego

Well left Friday morning at 0330 for good. Making my last military move, coincidently it’s to my wife’s home town so we’ll probably never move again. Wife flew out to Florida, didn’t want to do the drive, so I decided to go see my folks in Northern California for a week before hitting the...

    Fine Firearms .338

I thought about the 175 when Steve came out with them. I was able to get these 213s over 3000fps, but had a stiff bolt and ejector marks. At 2940 easy bolt lift with no ej marks so I settled there. The 175s could probably hit 3100 or a little higher, pretty sick little package. I’m shifting...

    Fine Firearms .338

It’s a 338 SS, so not a fire breather by any means. Running 63.6 grns of RL17. That sends the 213 grn HH out at 2940fps. The gun is pretty light. In the 6s without scope. With scope mounted it weighed in at 8lbs 9.7oz. Recoil wise it kicks a little harder than my 300WSM with 215 Bergers...

    Fine Firearms .338

Starting to stretch the legs on her a little. Hammers are shooting good at 100 (pic below, one shot, adjusted scope followed by 3 shots), then took her to 200. Will try 400 in a couple weeks. Pretty sweet video of the vapor trail here! .338 Hammer Trail Ryan

    NorCal Chuckar

When I was looking up loads online for TSS a lot of them said I need to use mag primers if I’m hunting below freezing? When I got up here today I text my buddy who’s from Illinois and he mentioned good luck getting those rounds to go off in that cold! I’d never heard that before? I guess it...

    NorCal Chuckar

Headed up to my parents on some leave for the week. Started it out with a chuckar hunt today. I love to hate these stupid birds. Found out it can be too cold to light off powder in reloads. Thought all those people who say it were crazy. After watching my first shot roll out the barrel...

    M6 hunters??

I was killing 5-6 deer a year back when I lived there a few years ago. Noting high quality but the quantity was worth it! Did have to buy beef the 3 years I was there. Below is the buck. Shot him at 327yds at a cool 9300’ msl.
