    Big Game Pack Guide Recommendations

So I've heard and I've tried!!! Last fall my cousin and I hunted the boarder of D8 and X10 for deer / bear for 5 days and didn't see any bucks. We did everything from road hunt, sit and glass and slow hiked along game trails. There were two people who harvested while we were there but that...

    ISO - compound bow

Thank you all for your advise. Someone offered me a bow for free that is ready to hunt. I am going to take it to a bow shop near me (Hi-Tech Archery in Fullerton) and make sure it checks out and get it tuned up if necessary. If it works I'll stick with that. If not I'll just save up some...

    ISO - compound bow

I live in OC and I see some on Bass Pro that are ready to hunt between $200 - $250. Your setup is probably much more expensive but I am not looking to break the bank. I hear you and I've heard those stories too. I was planning on taking whatever I could get and taking it to a bow shop before...

    Optics suggestion

I am new too and got the Leupold McKenzie 10x42, took them hunting for the first time 2 weeks ago and they were clear and crisp. They are about the same price point as the vortex. I am also on a tight hunting budget. Instead of buying an expensive tripod I bought an amazonbasics tripod ($24)...

    Travling tradesmen/hunter help

Fort hunter liggett is another good option. They have a posting that they are not open to the public at least thru Aug 19th. Pretty easy to apply and get accepted. The catch is you have to register your weapons in person at their base during business hours.

1st Coyote Hunt - ammo selection

Great response! Very helpful.. I hope to not take it out further than 125 yds... I am not that great of a shot yet. Also forgot to mention its a 223 heavy bull barrel... don't know if that changes your take on the weight at all... I personally wouldn't want to take that gun on a trip where...

1st Coyote Hunt - ammo selection

Hi all- Going on my first predator hunt and would like to confirm that a .223/5.56 varmint AR15 w/ 24" barrel would be an okay gun to take. There wont be much hiking so it is not a big deal to lug that thing around. My other options are: 1. .308 remington 700 2. 12 ga slug I figure the...
