There's a ton of rabbits in my yard and neighborhood right now. But then I drive 40 minutes to the forest and there's none there.

My buddy who is a local biologist says they got hit hard last year with disease. Wiping something like 60 to 80% of population out. It was really bad down by border.

Managed to get my first 2 rabbits ever while out scouting for quail. 1 cottontail and 1 jack. Had some cottontail stew, and jack is brining in preparation for some tacos tonight. Even tanned the cottontail pelt because.... why not? I'm having too much fun!
