I would like to think, if a group of guys from SCH or any other group of friends went fishing on a charter...They would share with the guys that were perhaps less fortunate in catching fish.....
Like me. I'm shitty at fishing but great at accepting fish from others that actually catch fish.
Gonna step in for a moment. Never liked cattle boats because of who you might have to fish with and did not know. Have done tons of charters however as well as owning a boat for awhile. I got lucky early on learning pelagics and got my first experience's on private charters through friends in a friendly enviroment. When the bite got big some day's it was hook and hand to the newbies on the charter, On one trip early on the guy next to me saw how I was struggling during a good stop and said - I got one going but here you go it's up to you to put it on the boat. That's how I learned, he stood next to me and taught me what to do. I was lucky enough to be taught by folks that had enough heart to break a newbie in. That was a long time ago but I have never forgotten that persons help that day.

My last trip on the Fortune was my first with Jeff, he only owned the boat about one week at that time. I agree he knows what he is doing and the crew was great.
I recently went out on a boat which I won't name. Great guys and some great fishing. I got skunked on BFT but got 2 great YT so I was happy. BUT, one dude who was the father of one of the deckhands caught 4 or 5 BFT and the boat limited. (We hit a huge school at 2 am on the way in and the deckhands caught a bunch.)
That is not unusual, but not always the case. Charters are mostly guys who fish together a lot either with a club or company charter. Those trips like to see everyone go home with fish even if the didn't catch any. I was on one charter as a fill in. We had two older guys who never wet a line and still took fish home. We got limits of yellow fin, a few yellow tail and blue fin. The ones who caught blue fin, I was one, kept that meat but shared the rest of their catch.
Yes Sir, I'm not that fishy yet in the ocean and can say I've been on 2 overnights and 2 full day trips, and plenty of 1/2 days. 1/2 days is where I've been practicing. In one of my full day trips I was hooked up but lost them do to tangles and other guys not following lines. I had a quick conversation with a gentleman on the ride out and had mentioned to him that I was a rookie. At the end of the trip him made time to look for me and ask how I did...skunked but fun I said. When we docked he came over and handed me a yellowfin, wohoo!! As the deckhands collected for filleting the fish I went over and paid his tab plus tipped, I had overheard him tell the deckhand he had left his wallet in his truck and he left his gear and went running to his truck to get the wallet. I hope he thought it was cool that I paid his tab out of the same kindness he showed me.
That was very kind of you both, lets hope the captain was honest and told him his tab was paid and didn't take his money.

The last time I was fortunate enough to fish with @Truduct our group of 3 were the last 3 knuckle heads at the rail, maybe the first 3 too. The above picture was the last fish caught for the trip and if memory serves me correct, the only DoDo. I'm the idiot in the background looking for a decent bait, picture was taken around 9:30pm on a 1.5 day trip. Think we had 2 of the 3 largest fish caught. Including the jackpot.

I wouldn't feed skipjack to a cat. And I hate cats.
This is how many bags of SJ I brought home for lobster bait. Half of the boat were snobs and they sat in the galley bitching about the SJ. Me and Morgan were at the rail all day ripping lips. Pretty sure we ended up with YFT limits in the mix. Super fun fishing for sure I would do that trip 10 out of 10 times. No shame in my game I just want to catch fish and laugh.
