Camouflage is a gimmick used by hunting companies to sell gear. Why do you think as soon as you have all your gear they all come out with a new pattern?
It doesn’t matter what you are wearing as a human being if you don’t play the wind and you can’t watch your movement your not gonna get close to animals.

Camo patterns are to hunters, as fishing lures are to fisherman.

Camo probably isn't as important, but the quality of the materials and features are.

FWIW, I just bought a bunch of Kuiu Valo gear......yeah it's looks cool, but it's much more comfortable than what I had.

Camo is needed in certain situations. But the brand, color, feel, price, ect. ect. is all on the buyer.

Camo makes me ike I know what I'm doing out there....I have a pair of high dollar pants that are the shizzle! I'll be wearing them this Saturday for 30 days straight! Hope they do as they are supposed to do and get me one of them dears....wonder if I should wash them every few days? Don't wanna stink up my truck!!

...I vote not not needed unless you are a bird guy...#2 has some camo..he birds..

I mean my daughter likes to play dress up too…..But 4 fat dudes roll up in a Razor all decked out in camo I don’t feel to much pressure that they are gonna be a threat to my hunting spot. I would argue if you are looking for comfort there are a lot better brands in the mountaineering and backpacking space.
keep in mind I own a lot of Kuiu and Kryptec but the majority of my Kuiu is solid colors now. Also how good is my camo hunting in a state that requires hunter Orange.

According to Larry you need a wookie suit to hunt dove!

What do I know......
This is true. I also learned from him that my truck will flair dove and can't possible get anything near it.
That damn guy... when dove opens up again I'm going to put a damn mojo on my roof rack and challenge myself to drop a bird into the bed.

I think one of my big gripes with camo patterns is you almost have to commit to a brand. I like to mix and match gear whatever is most comfortable for me. And when you have two different patterns it just looks stupid.
my kid just bought some Arc'teryx Alpha SL Full-Zip Rain Pants in black. They are some of the highest quality pants I have seen. I am a little jealous.

You definitely don't need camo pants as they will be less visible, obscured by vegetation, easy to hide naturally, etc.
I'd say 90% of my hunting is done in $20 outdoor tan pants from costco, a $6 olive drab T from target of someplace, and a $3 hat from wally world. My socks cost more than everything else, lol.
Turkey has been the only thing I've camo'd up for.

Camo certainly isn’t necessary at all. Probably helps in archery where everything is closer but dudes have been killing animals for centuries without it. Doesn’t matter at all what you wear if you don’t beat the wind though.

I will say the only reason I buy anything expensive for hunting clothes is comfort. If something allows me to be comfortable out there and stay out longer I’m all in. Do you have to have it? No. I won’t tell anyone where to put their hard earned money either. Do what’s best for you.

Where's that elk hunt in NM with everyone in Kuiu?
I couldn't tell one fat guy from the other......

I bought Sitka when it first came out. Hated when they changed patterns but the quality of the new stuff, I soon over looked. At the time nothing else fit and functioned as well.

I have hunters with mountaineering clothing and it just doesn't compare to the hunting clothing. Biggest thing I noticed pockets, zippers & quietness all we're lacking compared to the Sitka line.

I also like how I can hide when a hunter walks by......I've also had great success after the hunter walked by. I think the game hears and sees the hunter so once he's gone they come out to feed feeling it's safe.
One time I had a hunter come back after he heard the shot. I heard him coming and stayed hidden. He looked around didn't see anything and left. It was hard not to laugh at his frustration when he was cussing at his luck!

Another reason is blood, blood seams to wash out plus I don't care if it doesn't.

Drew,

Playing the wind with big game may be fine, but if you're hunting turkeys or waterfowl...You better have a good hide or camo or both.
I would argue a $30 leafyflauge suit is better than any Sitka, Kuiu, or Real-tree pattern for turkey. So why spend the money? As for ducks I think movement flairs more than anything. I like face paint and a hat but if you are sitting in a blind do you really need full camo.

Careful with the leafy set up. I've had a turkey stop coming in when the only thing moving was the leafy camo. Later in the day we ditched the leaf and scored on the same Tom.
Who knows why he stopped but it sure seemed to help when we removed the leafy crap.
Even with camo, breaking up you silhouette, I think is more important.
Staying in the shadows, having the sun directly behind you as they come in are all pluses over camo everyday.....
