The 16 makes guys straight quit! I know quit a few fellas that hunted the 16 a season and just never came back LOL
Folks that are able to see bucks year over year in D16 are generally good hunters. It is not an easy zone to hunt and there is now a lot of competition. I don't judge my season in D16 based on harvest. It is based on enjoyment, learning new things and hunting with people that add value to my life. If I see one nice buck in a season with friends or family, I consider it a success.

I love the "16"....Quit deer hunting after they started all this zone and micro managing thing (middle 80's)....In about 2004, a friend asked me if I wanted to go with him on public (CNF)....I did, and shot a little forky....I've been rehooked ever since......

I have only been hunting deer for about 7 years. I pretty much just hunt D16 on only public. I shot my first Buck this season in D16 on a very busy day on public. So, yeah D16 public is hard. You have to work hard to get a shooter on public in D16. I am still stoked on that Buck I got and very thankful as well. For those of you who have not gotten one. I have been there. Lots of frustrating hunt days through out the years. But, it is about being in the right place at the right time and making the shot. Your odds go up as you put more days in the field. Make sure you have good equipment and you are good making a shot out to 300 yards. Again, D16 public is no joke. No bullshit. You will need to work really hard to pull a Buck out of D16. Is it worth it? Hell yeah it is.

Here is a buck in 16 just a few hundred yards of a major road. It’s National forest that anyone can hunt! Keep looking guys they are out there

Tag soup for me this year... still a blast getting out in the mountains... hunted mostly solo and was joined by @morga few days late season. This was my second year deer hunting and still waiting on the first one
Tag stew with a side of humble pie for me this year..
0-4 in the "16" & might have been my last season here..definitely no walk in the park. I've switched to bow hunting for deer the last 2 seasons but it didn't extend my season as I hoped because of the forest closures.. Learned a lot and seen some beautiful country I otherwise would have never experienced if it weren't for that tag in my pocket..

So
This is the first year I saw a decent amount in 1 area. I was shocked at the amount of gun shots I heard this season. I thought it had something to do with the pandemic last year. Saw my first 3 point this year too. Didn't know they existed in public 16 until now.
