Hello from Montana 2022

After having beautiful weather for honker hunting, we get 3 straight days of rain...And, this morning it was pouring when we got up...But, by the time we got to our field, it had stopped (about 25 miles away)...A little muddy, but the barley field had a lot of hay left in the field...We found our spot we had pre-scouted and we proceeded to set-up the silhouettes (5 dozen)...It was still pretty dark well after shoot time and nothing was flying...Having a good north wind gave us the opportunity to hide in one of the numerous tree islands out in the field.

Just after sunrise, we hear our 1st honks...A 4 pack and they decoy beautifully...All 4 hit the deck for Mike and I...Soon a 6 pack locked up and comes in...We get 3 out of 6...Ronnie was in a separate tree island not far from us and he gets 2 out the last 3...By 9:00 am, we had 15 big boys on the ground.

Great opening day for honkers...Next up hopefully some ducks farther north.......

ps...Wish we could shoot sandhills......;)
