The individual who received the citation, in my opinion, is a certified knucklehead. He showed a complete lack of judgment and a poor understanding of the regulations. He earned the citation he received, and deservedly so. Ignorance of the law has never been an excuse.

Agreed I finally took a look at this video. After that I went over to his page he has a couple San Diego and California videos on there. He also stated in one that he lives in San Diego. You can only play stupid for so long driving around trying to look like a lost lesbian before you get called on it. You have an outdoor page and cant even spend a couple bucks on OnX . Giai is a cheap app for hikers finding trails not hunters where laws and fines could come into play. The kid lives in a dreamworld trying to live on likes. I'm not saying he's not a nice kid or anything but he earned his fine for sure. When the officer ran his info he probably saw that he's had mutiple San Diego tags in the past so he should have a clue by now.

I rarely post here, but just wanted to second this. I've had encounters with wardens a couple hundred times (Im old and been at this for nearly 5 decades), primarily on the water, and only ever had a single unpleasant encounter.

That one bad one was with a warden up in norcal who was just notorious for being a complete jerk. Dude spent 40 minutes trying to find any kind of violation he could, and when he couldn't, got even more pissed and rude before leaving in a huff.

Aside from that one miserable dick 20 years ago, every other warden I've met has been super professional, happy to be out there talking with fellow sportsmen while protecting the resource, and stoked to see good catches and harvests. Remember, they are nearly all hunters and fishers too.

The point I'm getting at is that if you're having a bunch of bad encounters with wardens, there's a good chance the problem isnt that the wardens are in the wrong....

Was the bad one named Warren by any chance. He went out of his way to find a reason to give out citation. He checked me three times in a two hour period, Each time he asked for hunting license, checked ammo and game bag for deer slugs and number of birds. He was never once close to giving me a citation, I'm certain he went to his grave regretting that. Even the other wardens disliked him, he was that bad. Other than him, most of my encounters with wardens has been okay, but then most of them have been in AZ. Wisconsin. and Indiana.
