NEW TO HUNTING CALIFORNIA D13 AND SURROUNDING AREA

not sure if this thread is still being watched. looking on OnX, D13 has very sparse BLM spots. Anyone have any luck last season out there?

i hunted D14 last season, got on two bucks, but one was a little too far for my ethical shooting range and the other I could not tell if it had a fork, so no go on either.

i'll be bow and rifle hunting this season. just curious if anyone is looking for an extra pair of eyes, and strong back to load out meat if you're lucky enough; I'm in Santa Clarita.

With a D13 tag you can hunt D11 and D15 also so it opens up more areas for you. I am down to scout D13 with you and cam up some spots to see if we can find them, never hunted it before. DM me.

Trapline, did not know that about adjacent zones. Do you know where in the regs or somewhere it says that? I would literally want to print that and have it in my pocket with my license and tag just in case. Not questioning you, but I would want it in case a ranger stops me. And I'd be down for scouting, although, this season i'll probably be back up in D14. A good friend of mine is getting into it and that's where he wants to go. Since I've hunted there, I know where to go. Although...13 is a much shorter drive....

Here is the link to the DFG site for D13 zone, look at the top of page 4.

Scroll a little further down to Regulation 360 Deer (a)(12)(E) also

Good luck out there.

I'm from Southern Wyoming. I've lived in SoCal for years but haven't hunted in the state yet. My 15 year old son and I want to rifle hunt for hunt deer in the 2019 season. I'm looking at D13 but really don't know if it's where we should be hunting. There seems to be a huge amount of public land with access. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome , what area do you live, that might be helpful..

A zone does have alot more public area to hunt...that hwy 33 out of ojai is big deep country, just make sure you are on the correct side of the hwy, a good map will tell you where your at or onX...lots of land to cover , also bear country..double your intake..

Hi there I read your old post and it is pretty much my experience. New to SCH and just put in for deer tags in D13. Any pointers for the area? It’ll be my first time out there

Welcome to the site... Hey, start a new thread up introducing yourself... hunting background, what rifle you have or had (lost in boating accident), ect. ect,. Good luck in D13 if it sucks I heard D16 is the spot to hit.

This+...if I were to pick any zone in CA..it would be D16...plenty of public land..and copious amounts of eager sportsman ready to help you succeed...welcome!
