I thought this was fun when Tricer did it a while back so thought I’d try it with my more pedestrian options :):). I have been blessed with a drawn tag and have private permission as well so will have both public and private access which is critical in this zone.

All factory ammo, all unbraked. Southeast New Mexico in sandhill country so the muleys aren’t huge but bigger than SoCal, wind is a thing, and shots will almost certainly be inside 400 yards. All rifles are practiced and doped to 550 yards. Sage brush is tall and hills are rolling , for my pronghorn hunt in this zone I ended up taking a standing tripod shot as it was the only way to see the vitals.

Apparently...I don't use it correctly...I gotta practice more on large mammals .....that being said...lots of hearts have been stopped with copper in CA..(thanks Ca for mandating it for THE condor) not a fan ..post um when you kill um fellas!! PLEASE!!! Little slow around here ..

Copper works pretty darn good. Not sure what the fuss is about. It devastates game when used correctly.

Always easier to blame the bullet, round, Obama, etc... than the man in the mirror.

That said, I think pushing it fast certainly helps. That 7mm with copper would devastate a deer at almost any shot angle.

Ruger American! Ran the Barnes 168 grain ttsx last season for my American in 30-06 and dropped a mule deer and a cow elk. Mind you both shots were under 70yds so there's that..
Finally some love for the classic American steel! That’s the first scoped rifle I ever bought and it just plain shoots good. TTSX usually gives me single digit SD in that rifle as well.
