My dad had never killed an elk so cows were on the hitlist this year. Booked a private land hunt in Utah and went in Nov. Temps were in the 70's with no snow on mountains so we left after the second day and came back in January. First day we have elk coming over a ridge at about 200 yards and dad dumps the first cow in her tracks with a shot to the neck. I pick out the smallest cow in the group and when they stop at about 350 yards I let her have it. 2 elk down first thing on day one! Dad was pumped!
We learn we are able to buy a second tag so we do. I get one the second morning and dad gets one the third morning on a perfect broadside double lung shot at 360 yards with his Remington Sendero II 300 Win Mag. Overall great trip and got some meat for the freezer. So far I have cooked up the young one by wrapping it in caul fat, putting on smoker, and finishing in pan. Probably the most tender game I have had. Great eating. 20220116_081110.jpg20220116_081110.jpg20220116_070935.jpg20220115_085423.jpg20220115_104415.jpgScreenshot_20220114-171825_Gallery.jpg20220114_090728.jpg20220130_101152.jpg

I like girl elk...meatfest for sure.nice work.

Congratulations!! 4 elk in 3 days for two of you is a feat!! Though I am exhausted just thinking about processing 4 elk.

Hopefully you brought enough coolers to bring all the meat home!

Damn, that's a lot of great eating. I only got one and we have Elk twice a week. My wife told me I need to shoot one that has more tenderloin on it, I wish. All I can do is shoot more Elk.

Nice! I am sitting on 6 cow points there. This post makes me hungry, may have to burn em!

Somehow I missed this. Way to get it done @Wister Junkie . Some graphic photos! What bullets was everyone shooting?
