Ruddy duck, the most majestic and delicious of all waterfowl.Hunter527, the duck on the profile pick... I've seen a pair of them in our local lagoon. What type of duck is it?
That thing is going to ring the bell of the guy next to you but it will work....
I got Muddy assembled, man going to be easier than huffin those decoys on my shoulders. Need to pick up some bungee cords for the cart and for a jerk string rig. What do you guys use for weight on your jerk strings? Was thinking maybe a brick or an old dumbell but I have these 7 oz break away sinkers I am wondering if they will work, takes quite a bit to break them away and with a bungee attached I think may just work, less weight but lots of holding power.

When I bought it I was thinking Wister where you can spread out away from your stake.
Can you explain this further? So you bought a home security shotgun because you can walk 100 yards from your stake??
In summer plumage they're one of my favorite ducks. In the cooking pot, not so much.Ruddy duck, the most majestic and delicious of all waterfowl.
How did you cook them? I soaked them in buttermilk and fried in flour, I couldn’t tell them apart from the other ducks I’ve cooked. In summer plumage they're one of my favorite ducks. In the cooking pot, not so much.
I always brine them to get some of the funk off. I've tried poppers, deep fried, and now stick to jerky if I do shoot a ruddy, which is rare. That smell on your hands after breasting out a ruddy is unique. Fun fact.. during the market hunting days I believe ruddies were a prized fare, priced higher than some ducks (all) that we consider better tasting today. How did you cook them?
