In summer plumage they're one of my favorite ducks. In the cooking pot, not so much.
How did you cook them? I soaked them in buttermilk and fried in flour, I couldn’t tell them apart from the other ducks I’ve cooked.
I always brine them to get some of the funk off. I've tried poppers, deep fried, and now stick to jerky if I do shoot a ruddy, which is rare. That smell on your hands after breasting out a ruddy is unique. Fun fact.. during the market hunting days I believe ruddies were a prized fare, priced higher than some ducks (all) that we consider better tasting today.

This duck hunt has the makings of a real dynasty...ive always wanted to shoot a duck, and if harold and kumar get it done...there is hope for me yet!! Stevo told me i had a standing invite to wister with him anytime...i have not forgot that stevo..wont be the same with out our boy Lloyd...but he,d of wanted me to go..standing by for duck porn! Or coot would work also.

For me one of the wake-up calls was when a New YEars Eve Celebration had fools bustin at the sky with .45 ACP's who knows where far away from me... and had one of them fall outta the sky, SMACK!!! the roof of my Mom's House... and fall and come to a roll stopping right at my feet! We say "We gots ta Go." and make haste with the retreat! I ain't gon' stand out here with the fools blastin at the sky all up in these streets!

I was with some locals that smuggled my Howlee (thats a white dude in Hawaiian for the internet stalker folks ) in and out of Texas....border patrol with them jackals that sniff your rigg and gear are no joke... No Grass came back...damn dogs!!!!
