    San J draw/youth hunt info

Good morning. Just got back into duck hunting after a 10+ year hiatus. When I did hunt before, it would be at the river, or at Barrett lake down here. I have never put in for any of the wildlife area draws. So a couple days ago I logged in under my son's account and applied for the last couple...

    Refreshing old decoys

Very nice. I'd be interested to know the exact color and brand of paint you used. I just bought a dozen mallard decoys from someone for $30, they could for sure use a freshening up.

So, we decided to Head tothe valley. I was going to go all the way to the river, but Steve gave me an idea closer. This was...

    San Jac COOT HUNTER

I've never shot one..... But..... "Coots are not rated high on the edible list....at all.... They are very edible! You must skin them and leave no fat ( the fat tends to carry the nasty flavor). Cook it as though you're cooking venison and you'll be pleasantly surprized at how much it does...

    Couple of quick questions/advice

Yes, not planning on letting her in the canal. I remember even Mike's dog's would struggle against that current when we would shoot something there. I was hoping to hunt some of the still waters off the edge, some of those little ponds and pockets of water. How you been, btw? Having a good year?

    Couple of quick questions/advice

G'Mornin all! So, haven't been duck hunting in 12 years or so. Went a few different times with my buddy, who has since passed away. He had all the knowledge and the dogs. So, I got a dog from his last litter that was born just 4 days after he passed away, and I'd like to get her into duck...
