    First Bear!

Thanks everyone! I'm thinking just a simple rug, although a full size scene mint would be super rad, I just don't have the space right now. It was in x10, using a Weatherby .257 magnum. One shot, maybe 50 yards, he passed quickly but did fall into a creek which was a bit of work to wrestle him...

    First Bear!

Haven't posted in a long time, but happy to share I got my first bear out of x10 this weekend. Saturday we came face to face with a monster probably 350/400lbs, but dummy me didn't have a round in the chamber. That bear stared at us from 50 yards while we talked and watched him but the second I...

Good news for bass pro, bad news for sportsman's.

Are Muzzleloaders ok at Pala shooting range?

Not sure about pala but I've seen guys shooting black powder at rainbow.

    F california

I was drawn to California by (a flaming liberal) old military buddy who convinced me that it needs more people like me to fight the good fight. That was ten years ago and I can't wait to leave this dumpster fire and never look back. That being said, I met my wife here and became self employed...

    Forest closure question

Idaho is a temporary sanctuary. All the idiots who leave here to go there will turn it blue. "It was all the OTHER policies that ruined CA, the ones I like are the good ones." Californians are a cancer.

    Bobcat Hunting Banned in CA

Almost time to put on Hawaiian shirts and build an igloo ; )

    Bobcat Hunting Banned in CA

The "state constitution" guarantees the CA people the right to fish. No such guarantee on hunting though.

    Bobcat Hunting Banned in CA

Friendly reminder: Last few days of bobcat hunting before the legislature's "year round bobcat poaching" season goes into effect. If you can get out and do some hunting this week/weekend, go for it. Also a pretty good chance this will be the last bear season, don't be surprised if they ban...

    Local black powder vendors?

Super lame. I ended up piecing together what I need from several local shops and mail orders. It would be a shame if there was a legit gunstore in California

    Local black powder vendors?

Wait wut? The d13 tag is good for muzzleloader too?? I thought that was an entirely separate special tag in CA?

    Deer: Proof of sex

In California it does, if I remember the regs correctly. MOST states it does not, and require you to leave sex organs attached to one hind quarter until you process or get the tag validated, if required. So it's a damn good habit to leave the sex organs attached. You WILL get cited in states...

    Local black powder vendors?

Ant recommendations for socal area black powder supplies? I know Bass pro in rancho Cucamonga has a limited selection of powder and supplies but was hoping someone closer might. So far all the shops I've called carry the rifles or occasionally carry the rifles, but not the powder, caps, balls...

    Ultra light Solo Tent?

Agreed (if you must go the tipi route). I have a seek cimarron. It's nice but definitely way overpriced, and I prefer my dome tent for the same weight. A stove is just one more thing to hassle with when you are hunting. Nice camping novelty though. I spent a week in Idaho getting poured on...

Advice hunting near Alamo Mountain in D13?

I was up there for a few days last year. Saw more Modelo bottles and human feces than deer sign.

    Is this a dove?

We get DOZENS of those in our trees. I keep telling the wife we are gonna have collared dove for dinner one of these days. One even got in the house once, ran into the mirror and left a full body dove print on the glass .
