my first hunting rig was a AMC Concord, IV roads had nothing on this 17yr old and a shotgun riding shotgun.
When I first moved to Cal. My brother owned 200 acres in the Piute Mt. His ford bronco was in the shop, again, so we took his 1969 Chevy. station wagon up to his property deer hunting. I was amazed how well that thing handled those dirt roads and switchbacks. The gated road leading to his place was a challenge for a lifted four wheel drive but we never had an issue.

Pretty sure he has a 3 day hike out still so it might be a while. Don’t want to steal his thunder but it was a poke. Gonna be a great story.
Not unless there happened to be poison oak on the seat of the truck. Hatch and the truck are seldom parted.
Alright hopefully this will satisfy you all for now! In time I’ll get some more details out but this’ll have to do for now. Incredible trip in the Chugach! We packed in on aug 7. Season opened on the 10th and we killed on Friday the 13th! One day of hiking gets you to kind of the edge of sheep country and another day gets you into rams. This area is low density, it took us 6 days to find a legal ram and we killed him on day 7. Incredible experience. And yes @Truduct it was quite the packout. We managed in two big days though.
