Hot Tips!

Speaking of cold hands, cold wet feet is even worse.
Ever have boots that are water proof. Then fail. Cold and wet.
Wool is the key. If ones feet get wet. They keep your feet warm.
Even if they are wet.
Wool socks for cold weather.
Synthetic are good but prefer wool.

Interesting.. never heard of that one but it's going into my chest freezer tonight. It doesn't ruin the bladder at all? I hate how the bladders never quite dry all the way, even after you hang them.

I’ve been doing it with the same bladder for a few years now with no problems.

I use wax rings for toilets to waterproof my boots and gloves. Sit them out in the sun to warm you boots and wax, then apply wax with a nitrile glove. Let boot sit in sun do a while. Water beads off of it and it protects the leather. Cheaper than actual bout wax.
Good one
Paraffin wax is good, bees wax is even better. There is a recipe
Wax, linseed, and miner oil I think.
Heated together until liquid then apply on leather, wood or tarps.
Water proof.
They use this stuff on the old style tarps. I been in snow using this
And snug as a bug, dry and warm.

Just be advised. Linseed oil if applied on its own will ignite.
In other words catch fire on its own. . Keep stuff in a fire container that was used to apply it. Then your good.

Ever need to make an emergency fire. Out in the woods and stuck on your own. Fire will keep you warm. And keep predators abay.
Good ol small container of Vaseline, or alcohol. Soaked in cotton balls. Sure safe. And carry
That fire starter as a last resort.
Magnesium fire starter, or ferro rod.

For the bladders I use 5 star sanitizer, add a few drops drain out then air dry.
Also use a antidote by CamelBak for no plastic taste in water. If you filter water in the field this adds 2 more charcoal filters before you drink.

Ever get stung by a bug while out
In the woods. name it I got stung by it. I carry cortisone for stings.
But what works even better.
Alcohol. Yep if alcohol is applied immediately. It will kill the poison.
And reduce the side effects.
Hand sanitizer works very well in a pinch. I have both in my pack.

I am not a medical doctor so use
At your own risk. Always consult
A medical doctor.

Ever try to change a flat tire.
Except the tire shop over torqued the lug nuts. And the standard lug wrench won't work.
Keep a cheater 3 ft pipe that slips over a breaker bar. With the correct socket
That fits your lug nuts.
It will save ya out in no where land.

On that same note....I carry a small floor jack with a couple of blocks of wood.....Giant pain in the ass trying to get to jacks in vehicles like mine.

Good one Steve you beat to the punch. I carry small floor jack.
4x4 minimum qty of 2, more are better.
Add a shovel to that list.

Ever get a small leak from the radiator. Sucks right. It can happen. Don't forget that Xtra distilled water, and stop leak.
It will work until you can correctly
Fix that radiator at the shop.
Some of you hard core guys
Can bring a propane tank and torch. And solder it on the spot.
But all coolant must be drained
Into a bucket or sort.

Ever have a malfunctioning shot gun. Right in middle of the hunt.
Yet you have a backup at home.
Next time bring it. And keep it locked up in the truck for a back up

Instead of stop leak, I would use pepper. It will seal the leak, and not clog coolant passages in the radiator or the engine. You can also claim your engine is seasoned too!
