Never too Early to Start Scouting Turkeys

Do you hunt public land or private land? I'm not asking for a spot.

I hunt all private nowadays locally (MCC a lot, that anyone can buy in to)......Mostly public in other states.

ps......Found out many years ago, it was better to have 40 acres of private than 4000 of public here in SD.

Helluva lot safer too. That's a main reason I joined MCC: safety during turkey season. Public land turkey hunting here was impossible with all the hunter traffic. I'm not a good enough hunter to stay safe and also be tactically effective.

Stopped by some old haunts this morning on the way back from Wister.....Saw more jakes.....Not a lot, but hopefully something to hang on to..... ;)

Not that things aren't bad enough with few turkeys seen, but I saw single hens moving away from the separated groups (1 gobbler with a handful of hens)....True sign of spring dispersal....With no rain in sight, this season will probably be a early one and a tough pull.

Yesterdays pix...... ;)

ps.....Sorry for some the blurry photos....I had the camera on the wrong setting..... :-[
